About WIKS-USA
WIKS-USA is guided by volunteers committed to sustaining the mission and strengthening the partnership with the Nambale Magnet School.
President
John is a retired international banker following a career focused on Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
His transformative introduction to Nambale Magnet School (NMS) came during a 2017 visit to NMS along with participation on the Mission Team at Noroton Presbyterian Church, a long-time supporter of Evalyn Wakhusama and NMS.
John joined the WIKS-USA Board in 2019.
Treasurer
Mark recently retired from a career as a quality and business process consultant. Following a degree in analytical chemistry, he designed and marketed improved laboratory instruments for testing chemicals using computer systems to collect and process the data. His professional expertise includes enterprise data systems, quality improvement, and business process streamlining.
Mark first met Evalyn through his wife’s friendship with Rev. Evalyn Wakhusama while she was a student at Yale Divinity School and has been a supporter of WIKS-USA and NMS for many years.
Mark became Treasurer of WIKS-USA in 2025 and visited NMS in 2026.
Secretary
Jim is a financial and business leader active in the nonprofit world, most notably serving as Chief Financial Officer for Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) until 2021. Mr. Hutter continues to work with HCZ in an Executive Advisor capacity. Previously he served as Managing Director for J.P. Morgan Chase in a variety of senior Finance and Business roles.
Jim has been involved with nonprofit organizations throughout his career. His support of WIKS-USA began through his wife’s friendship with Rev. Evalyn Wakhusama while she was a student at Yale Divinity School. He joined the Board of WIKS-USA in 2021 and along with his wife visited Nambale Magnet School in 2023.
Communications
Betsy is a financial services executive and entrepreneur leading a global financial training and consulting business.
As a member of Noroton Presbyterian Church, Betsy met Evalyn Wakhusama at the 2010 Women’s Retreat. The vision and dedication Evalyn shared about Nambale Magnet School (NMS) moved Betsy to be a supporter and friend to the students. Each year at the Women’s Retreat, Betsy made a stronger connection to NMS. In the summer of 2023, Betsy, her husband, and two daughters visited our friends at NMS and witnessed firsthand the tremendous transformation the school has on the students and community.
Betsy joined the WIKS-USA Board in 2022.
Director
Harvey, Professor Emeritus of African History, has been involved in Africa-related activities since his graduate school days. He lived in Ghana pursuing his dissertation research and has conducted research in South Africa on numerous occasions since 1985.
In 1994, he was an official observer during the first democratic election in South Africa. He published numerous articles and two books about his Africa research. Harvey joined the WIKS Board in 2014.
Director
Halim’s introduction to Nambale Magnet School was through Tom Sansone, who formerly served on the board of WIKS-USA. As a native of Kenya, Halim was very interested in the WIKS-USA’s mission and has served on the board since 2018.
He also serves on the Whalley Avenue Special Service District and was newly appointed to the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Halim has been with New Haven Bank as the AVP Branch Manager of their main office for the past 14 years.
Director
Alison S. Rozbruch is an attorney, executive product leader, and Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) with over 15 years of experience leading regulatory compliance, risk oversight, and enterprise product strategy across global financial institutions and fintech leaders. Throughout her career, Alison has served in key executive leadership roles at organizations including Taxbit, S&P Global, PayPal, Standard Chartered Bank, and Citigroup, specializing in translating complex regulatory frameworks into scalable operational and technological solutions.
Prior to her corporate leadership roles in tax technology and compliance, Alison served as a judicial law clerk in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York and practiced as a corporate associate. As a board member of WIKS-USA since 2025, she leverages her extensive background in legal strategy, risk governance, and process engineering to support the organization’s governance, strategic oversight, and mission-driven growth.
Director
Mike is a former high school history teacher, and currently the youth minister at the Episcopal Church of St Mary the Virgin in San Francisco.
He was first introduced to NMS in 2016 when he took a team of youth to do service there and has been an ardent supporter of the school and its mission ever since.
Mike joined the WIKS-USA Board in 2023.
Director
Mary is a management consultant at Kearney where she focuses on Strategic Operations and Food and Agriculture. She graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Agricultural Economics.
Mary was introduced to Nambale Magnet School through her upbringing in New Canaan, Connecticut and Noroton Presbyterian Church. She visited Nambale Magnet School for the first time in March and fell in love with the school and the people. She joined the WIKS board in May 2024.
